Local experience
Kitchens in older desert homes
Many Coachella Valley kitchens sit in homes from the 1950s to 1970s. Opening walls in these houses often turns up older wiring, plumbing, or ductwork. We plan for it, put it in the written scope, and price it honestly up front.
Mid-century homes in Palm Springs often have a closed or galley kitchen next to a living room with big glass and mountain views. Opening that wall is one of the most common requests we get. Sometimes it’s straightforward, and sometimes the wall carries the roof or hides plumbing and ductwork. Either way, you’ll know before work starts.
Planning a kitchen for the desert
- Ventilation that vents outside. A properly ducted hood keeps heat and cooking odors out of a closed-up house during long summers.
- Light without heat. Layered LED lighting, and window treatments or glass choices that cut glare on west-facing walls.
- Durable surfaces. Counters and finishes that handle heat, sun, and hard-water spotting.
- Storage that fits how you cook. Pantry pull-outs, deep drawers, and an island sized for the room, not the showroom.
We coordinate cabinet, counter, and appliance selections with you and build them into the written scope, so lead times and installation are planned, not guessed.
Permits and written scope
Kitchen remodels that move walls, plumbing, gas, or electrical need a permit. We get it from the city or county before any work starts. You get a written scope that spells out what’s included and what isn’t, so there are no surprises halfway through. Every trade on the job is a licensed subcontractor.
Honest pricing
How we price a kitchen remodel
Your number depends on the layout, what moves, and the cabinets, counters, and appliances you choose. We price the real scope, including the parts behind the walls, and we don’t underbid to win the job.

Kitchen remodeling questions
Can you open up my kitchen to the living room?
Often, yes. It depends on whether the wall is structural. Where engineering is needed, it goes into the permit and the scope.
Do you supply cabinets and counters?
We coordinate selections and installation as part of the written scope.
Will I have a kitchen during the remodel?
Usually not for part of the job. We go over the schedule with you before work starts so you can plan.
Can you move the sink, range, or gas line?
Usually. Relocating plumbing or gas is part of the permitted work, and we confirm the route before it goes in the scope.
How long does a kitchen remodel take?
It depends on scope, permit timing, and lead times for cabinets and counters. You get a written schedule once selections and the permit path are set.
